REF: LOBBYING FOR CHANGE

Dear Sir

Hello, I hope this letter finds you well. I write to advocate for action regarding supply and demand, which is one of the health economic issues greatly affecting Massachusetts constituents. This is a result of the high demand for healthcare services beyond the capacity of the available resources and facilities, since they are limited. As a result, healthcare outcomes of the constituents have been affected greatly, due to inaccessibility and low quality of healthcare services.

Thus, if this economic issue is addressed, more resources will be allocated to healthcare, enabling healthcare organizations to increase their staff. Consequently, the patient-to-health-care ratio will reduce, preventing the burnout and medication errors linked to the shortage. This aspect will have positive implications for the facilities by relieving their burden, as well as improving the quality of healthcare services. However, not addressing will lead to the failure of the healthcare organizations due to being overwhelmed by the patients' needs, and employee turnover, which can affect healthcare settings a lot in hiring processes (Zagrodney et al., 2025). Moreover, more deaths and harm will increase among the patients as they lack the necessary medical interventions to solve their healthcare needs.

Current sources point out that supply and demand health economic issues need to be addressed due to its implications. At the local and state levels, this issue subjects the healthcare workers to a lot of burnout and psychological distress. As Nuako et al. (2022) indicate, the U.S. has higher mortality in chronic illnesses, especially in rural areas, than in urban areas due to issues like limited access to health providers and fewer healthcare encounters. Moreover, Hayanga et al. (2021) reveal that ethnic inequities and inequalities in healthcare use and quality of care are due to unequal accessibility of healthcare services among minority groups. Thus, addressing this issue will help solve the structural racism in society that some groups face. Additionally, workforce shortage has contributed to a mental health crisis due to burnout and fatigue (Boniol et al., 2022). On the other hand, addressing the supply and demand will improve the staffing, promoting the productivity in the society, as the well-being of the population will improve due to the accessibility of quality healthcare services (Liu & Liu, 2022). Hence, addressing the challenge will have economic benefits for society by promoting a healthy population. In addition, addressing the supply and demand health economic issue will promote social justice by helping the underfunded and vulnerable people access quality healthcare services, mitigating the inequity in the healthcare sector (Tind et al., 2025).

Personal, professional, and organizational experiences have informed the resource planning and risk analysis of working toward addressing the economic issue by understanding the areas, populations, and specific groups at risk. Thus, when allocating the resources, such vulnerable areas and populations will be prioritized first. Hence, the allocation of resources will be done according to the demand for services to ensure resources are allocated where they are needed most. This aspect impacted my approach to conducting the risk analysis on the project by identifying the most vulnerable population and areas. Thus, the analysis could not be generalized.

Thank you, and looking forward to your positive feedback on the issue

Thank You

Yours Sincerely
